My Sucessful Self Improvement Time after time, I tried this diet and that, to no avail. Vegetarian diets, the all meat diet, fasting, exercise, trying to focus on the problem was difficult. I had a wife and children, stressful jobs and self-worth issues. It wasn’t until I found out I was a diabetic, that I discovered an easy method that works. I read on the internet an article concerning diabetes and weights loss. It was so simple. It was recommended that one way to lose pounds effortlessly was to maintain a glucose level of near 90. It speeds up metabolism and burns more calories. It was working, when I was told that eating 6 mini meals a day would do the same. At last! A method of eating that speeds up metabolism and the weight just started falling off. i’ve dropped from a maxium of 262# down to about 200 (give or take a few) in the last 3 months. I have more energy, stamina and have become more interested in healthy living.

Time after time I have tried to lose weight, to no avail.  I’ve tried vegetarian diets that left me craving meat. Then the Adkin’s Diet, but need to supplement necessary vitamins and minerals.  The list is long, but I had no lasting fat loss, only more frustration, that I naturally ate even more and gained more weight.  It had gotten to the point where I couldn’t cross my legs without the assistance of both hands. I couldn’t even put my socks on without a struggle to reach my feet.

The more I gained, the more depressed I became, and the more I ate out of frustration.finally gave up. Eventually I got up to 262 pounds.  I hated to look in the mirror or have my picture taken.  I was ashamed of what I had become.  In desperation, after I found out I had diabetes, I looked to the internet for possible answers.

I read where if I keep my glucose level around 90, I would burn more calories. Great!  I began working to keep at that level and it started working!  I later found out when I asked my doctor for something to help me lose fat.  He told me to eat 6 mini meals a day, which will speed up metabolism and help me lose.  I tried both together and was shocked.  I lost 62 pounds in just 3 months!  I was ecstatic!  It was so easy, so simple, so non restrictive.  I could eat anything I wanted (in moderation of course) and have had success, without the back sliding of the past.  Without the yo-you weight loss and gain.

Today I don’t mind looking in the “man in the mirror” these days.  I feel better, have more energy and the best part of all, my friend said “You look 20 years younger”!  I had one of the best days ever after she that.

Unwanted Love

Unwanted Love

To this lady,
I’ve met of late.
Who caused my heart,
to oscillate.

Who took the time,
to share with me.
Her man was gone,
I thought her free.

This news I deemed,
had opened the door.
I consoled her,
and thought of more.

Of sweet poetry,
and even prose.
A tender kiss,
a pure white rose.

A garden stroll,
in gentle rain.
Of days filled,
with anti-pain.

Of soft embrace,
and sowing seed.
Of openness,
and trusting need.

The jokes apparent,
I couldn’t see.
Her heart is frozen,
she’s not for me.

The only door,
that opened free.
Was one long closed,
deep within me.

I shall march on,
and will no more.
Go back that way,
knock upon her door.

Child Lost

Child Lost
When my parents problems
seemed so large,
and mine so small.
I fell silent and asked on more.

Drew in the pain in, stuffing it.
Locked it in that deep dark place,
where I rarely go.

That place where gargoyles
and demons live.
Where rampant anger dwells.

I dare not go there,
for when I emerge.
Someone may get hurt,
when feelings swell.

I will explode.
The blast ,
destroying the city.
Leaving a crater
to the threshold of Hades.

When will it all end?
I can’t go on.
Should I find a speeding car?
Poison?
A gun?

My lovers leave me.
And others as well.
I am so ashamed.
What’s wrong with me?

What have I done so bad?
Why doesn’t anyone accept me as I am?
I hang my head in shame,
dare not look anyone in the eyes,
lest they see my pain.

Be strong like a good little one.
Carry that load with dignity.
Why are you slouching?
Straighten that back!

Why can’t you play quietly,
like other kids?
I’ve worked hard,
given you all I could.

Where is the love?
Where are the hugs and kisses I need?
I just wanted to sit
in your lap and talk.

Why can’t we go to the park?
What do you mean,
my kitten is dead?
What happened to spot?
Why did you get rid of him?

I don’t want to get up in the mornings.
There’s nothing to look forward to.
I escape to that special place,
where I can be anything.

Where people want and need me.
Where I can do good
and help the world.
If only I could stay here forever.

The alarm rings, mom calls
the euphoria is gone.
I must be strong,
must carry on.

Cockroach To Be Most Intelligent Creature On Earth?

In the dawn of civilization, we began burning trees for warmth and cooking. Over millennium, we chopped down more and more trees. In the rain forests of the world, we clear forests, sometimes burning many acres of trees to make places to grow foods in the rich soil. Not only polluting the air, but stripping entire sections of ground for our selfish wants and needs. Ignorant of the impact on the environment, we still continue the practice today in many underdeveloped countries.

We have made holes in the ozone, letting harmful rays of the sun to enter our atmosphere. We continue as though it didn’t matter. Our selfishness as to the well being of nature has caused some species to become extinct. Killing Do Do birds, baby fur seals for their pelts, whales for their rich blubber, minks, beavers and foxes to make expensive fur coats, to impress others with our wealth. Elephants, rhinos, sharks, tuna and many other resident of our planet are still sought for trophies so we can proudly hang their heads on our den wall as decorations. Moose, bears lions, tigers and lions for rugs, trophies and our prey on hunting expeditions, solely for bragging rights for killing defenseless animals with high powered weapons from a safe distance.

Strip mining for precious metals, coals, diamonds, rubies and other stones we place a value on, have left scars on the earth. There are also many other ways we have been destroying our atmosphere, rivers and lakes, with places like the Love Canal, Three Mile Island and other nuclear reactors have made the surround land no longer habitable. Underground tests have also made the land dangerous to live on.

Wars leave more destruction on a global level than nature ever could bombing places like Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. Destroying forests with chemicals such as Agent Orange in Vietnam to defoliate trees in order to better slaughter our fellow man. Intentionally set fires have laid the land to waste in some areas.

What are we doing, and when will we stop destroying the Earth? At the rate we’re going, someday the common cockroach may be the most intelligent creature the planet.
